The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting test and evaluation efforts against MIDS JTRS and other software defined radios for the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC). They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by testing, analyzing data, and supporting real world test events. This position will directly impact the MIDS Program Office and other various stakeholders.CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITESAble to perform the following, under close supervision:Assist in developing test plans, procedures and test cases for validating radio system performance including hardware, software, and networking components.Participating in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues (bugs), as needed.Collaborate with cross- functional teams, including the program office, software development, test engineers, technical support, system architects, configuration management, and all levels of program management.Assist in conducting integration and system level tests across software defined radios.Collect detailed record of test results, anomalies, configurations, and test environments.Assist in generating formal test reports that contribute to system verification/validation documents.Assist with key activities across all phases of the engineering life-cycle, including requirements analysis, system design and architecture, implementation and integration, testing and verification, documentation, and troubleshooting and maintenance.Research systems engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices; stay updated on industry trends.SKILLS & ABILITIESFoundational knowledge of the following:Networking concepts and protocolsOne or more programming languagesIEEE standards, systems integration and design principlesMicrosoft OfficeRequirement Management ToolsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONSPreferred (BS STEM Degree)CompTIA Security+ PreferredTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONSGeneral office environmentComputer/Equipment labPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMay be expected to lift up to 25 lbsFrequent use of keyboard and typingFrequent sitting and standingWORK SCHEDULE9/80The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.PAY RANGE$75,000.00 to $100,000.00 annually, DOEU.S. Citizenship is RequiredSECURITY CLEARANCECandidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score).
