
Marine Electrical Engineer, SME

- Provide leadership and coordinate review efforts for verification and validation work related work efforts in the Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Review design review comments submitted by junior engineers and advise decisionmakers on considerations for high impact and critical design review decisions.
- Coordinate and lead review and adjudication of system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS’s), Request for Waiver (RFW), Engineering Changes (EC’s).
- Lead effort to evaluate new or modified electronics on overall system performance.
- Provide mentorship to junior electrical engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical, engineering, or marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- At least fifteen (15) years of recent, relevant professional experience working in one of the following marine fields: electric propulsion, machinery control, power generation or distribution systems.
- At least one (1) year of experience related to U.S. Federal ship or boat building acquisition programs.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. Navy Power Distribution Architecture.
- Extensive knowledge of USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Proficient with common productivity software.
- Strong communications skills.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical, engineering, or marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs.
- Experience leading electrical engineering work efforts for Government or commercial shipbuilding programs.
- Relevant certifications, such as:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- DHS Systems Engineering certification.
- DHS Program Management certification.
