Our top-tier benefits and great retirement packages can help you build a rewarding career and lasting future with the State of Illinois.Position OverviewThe Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (“Illinois EPA”) is seeking a highly qualified individual with a strong background in the Illinois Environmental Protection Act ("Act") and associated Air Pollution regulations to serve as Section Manager for the Compliance actions of the Bureau of Air (BOA), Compliance Section. The successful candidate will plan and direct the State-wide activities of professional staff, engineers, lead workers and managers at the Illinois EPA's offices.   • Serves as the Manager to staff responsible for the Compliance actions of the Bureau of Air (BOA), Compliance Section;
  • Serves as a full-line supervisor
  • Develops, implements, and updates the work plan that outlines the Section’s goals and objectives and means of accomplishing such goals
  • Assists in the Bureau of Air’s legislative matters and rulemaking process, including advising on appropriate rule language and helping in resolving issues.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least (4) four years of experience in implementing and enforcing state and federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to air pollution control.
  • At least (4) four years of experience in conducting stationary source compliance and/or enforcement activities related to air pollution control.
  • At least (4) four years of experience supervising professional staff in air pollution control compliance programs.
  • At least (4) four years of experience in preparing and developing comprehensive air pollution control compliance reports, memos, correspondence, etc. in a clear and concise manner.
  • At least (4) four years of experience in developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
