Job Title: Police Vehicle Up-fitter / Emergency Vehicle TechnicianLocation: Circle B, West Little RockJob Type: Full-TimeDepartment: Fleet Services / Law Enforcement SupportReports To: Fleet Manager / Lead TechnicianJob Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Police Vehicle Up-fitter. This position is responsible for outfitting police and utility vehicles with specialized equipment, including lights, sirens, radios, computer systems, prisoner partitions, weapon racks, and other law enforcement-related components. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive electronics, fabrication, and vehicle customization, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and functionality.Key Responsibilities:Install, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized police vehicle equipment:Emergency lighting systems (LED light bars, strobes, etc.) SirensRadios, antennas, and communication systemsIn-vehicle computer systems (MDTs/laptops)Prisoner transport partitions and safety cagesWeapon and equipment mounting systemsRemoving existing interiorWire and integrate systems into vehicle electrical networks, ensuring clean, safe, and functional installations.Perform fabrication tasks such as mounting brackets, drilling, and custom panel installation.Diagnose and resolve electrical issues related to up-fitted components.Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment installed, and vehicle status.Ensure all work meets applicable codes, safety standards, and department specifications.Qualifications:Required:High school diploma or equivalent (GED).2+ years of experience in automotive electrical work, vehicle up-fitting, or related fields.Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.Strong understanding of 12V/24V DC systems and electrical safety.Ability to use hand and power tools with precision.Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Preferred:ASE certification or EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification.Experience with law enforcement or municipal fleet vehicles.Basic fabrication or welding experience.Familiarity with law enforcement equipment vendors (e.g., Whelen, Havis, Gamber-Johnson, Motorola).Physical Requirements:Ability to lift 50 lbs.Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.Manual dexterity and ability to work with small components.
