Current Saint Francis Employees - Please click to login and apply.Full TimeJob Summary: The Epic Operational Database Administrator will work with other analysts and experts in the Epic system to build, configure, deploy, implement, operate, support and maintain the Iris database at the core of the highly complex, fast growing Epic environment. The goal of the position is to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of numerous environments, including production, development, test, and training environments. This position will participate in on-call coverage as assigned.Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field, preferred.Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: EPIC Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) certification.Work Experience: Minimum 8 years of related experience including minimum 5 years of Intersystems Iris database, Epic systems experience and Linux operating system experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Expert in data architecture with hands-on experience architecting and deploying highly available, large-scale databases. Demonstrated healthcare data management and operational knowledge. Experience and proficiency with Epic ODB tools and utilities including Epic (Perl) admin scripts, Instaserver, RedAlert, Kuiper, System Pulse, and certmgr. Functional understanding of Unix/Linux file structures, file/data management, and scripting; storage protocols and tools; backup/restore strategies, tools, and processes; and fundamental network services like Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Internet Protocol (IP), Domain Name System (DNS), and load-balancing; to architect, develop, and deploy resilient systems. Working knowledge of High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) designs and operations, enterprise data management, and system performance monitoring and tuning. Detailed-oriented with strong organizational, planning, technical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills. Experience and ability to lead enterprise IT teams through Epic upgrades and Special Updates throughout all environments with minimal downtime. Ability to lead strategic discussions and present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Develops blueprints for all data repositories pertaining to function and domain. Translates business requirements into long-term data architecture solutions. Assists with delegating project and operational activities while maintaining strategic direction. Manages technical approach to project components on moderately complex to complex issues. Monitors and performs maintenance of the Epic Operational Databases. Structures project plan, schedules, and sequence of activities for Epic environment upgrades. Establishes and maintains technical standards, departmental procedures, and other technical documentation, as required. Provides guidance, direction and assists with organizing the activities of fellow system and database administrators within Epic operational, analytic, and client systems environments.Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.Working Relationships: Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
