
Senior Production Support Engineering Technician

What you'll doSupport multiple networking communication products currently in production and future Next Generator products.Your self sufficient responsibilities will include: becoming familiar with the technical design of multiple product lines and working with team members to address a variety of issues, supporting efforts to troubleshoot technical issues from production and the field, supporting qualification efforts for component changes, aiding the transition of prototype units to low rate initial production, lab support and management, setting up and maintaining test and development hardware, and board checkout.
The day-to-day
- Hands on experience troubleshooting of complex digital systems (Processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLD, microcontrollers)
- Use of both Windows and Linux operating systems to develop and execute tests
- Knowledge and use of scripting languages, e.g. PERL, PYTHON a plus
- Work closely with remote engineers to devise and monitor tests for troubleshooting problem
- Identify rework needed to isolate and/or repair problems
- Integrate and debug design in the laboratory
- Work independently and with limited daily direction
- 7+ years hardware troubleshooting or sustaining experience
- US citizenship and active SECRET or higher security clearance is required
- Foundational knowledge of analog and digital logic and timing considerations
- Must be able to prioritize, be detail oriented, and have a history of managing time well to accomplish multiple tasks in parallel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
- Ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products for documentation creation and modifications
- Familiarity/Expertise with standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
- Familiarity/Expertise with production related processes and common failure modes
- High aptitude for learning new things
- Desire to be part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Self starter & highly motivated personality
- Familiarity with TCL, Perl, Python or another scripting language
- Experience with high speed interfaces like Ethernet, SERDES, DDR2/3/4, LVDS
- Proven experience in debugging, diagnosing, and solving embedded designs issues
- Understanding of embedded processor software and peripheral interfacing to PL/HW
- Experience and familiarity with Linux-based development environments
