Works with patients on other units with wound care issues as referred by attending physicians. Works directly with OR leadership to determine jobs in the OR under the direct supervision of the surgeon..This position works weekends only - Saturday and Sunday 6:45 am - 7:15 pm.Department/Unit Summary:The Vanderbilt Burn Center offers world-class care to burn patients of all ages. Our team is committed to the burn population by providing both physical and emotional support for patients and their families from the acute phase of care through discharge and beyond. Our team of staff members are welcoming, fun, team oriented, and committed to the care provided to our patients. The Burn Center is a 23 bed unit: 8 beds are dedicated to intensive care. The remaining 15 are used for either acute care or intensive care. Our unit specializes in caring for a diverse patient population with complex issues in a designated Level 1 burn center that cares for patients from over a 600 mile radius. A few of the procedures a nurse may perform during a typical shift include IV insertion, drawing blood, in and out catheterization, hydrotherapy (wound care), assisting with chest tube, central line, and arterial line placement, using rotoprone beds, and performing CRRTCare Partner Position Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) (Required) AND
  • Other : 1) Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN and successful completion of first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or 2) Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program, or 3) Min of one year previous experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/technician

  • Provides assistance in preparing the operating room for the patient and assigned case (ie equipment, supplies) under direct supervision of the surgeon.
  • Perform in room burn care and treatments within the organization.
  • Assist with delivery of patient care and maintenance of environmental standards under a licensed nurse or physician's supervision.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
  • Patient Assessment (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with patient assessments.
  • Operating Room Care (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate operating room care in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
  • Patient Documentation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
  • Burn Care (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate burn care in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally, works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
  • Wound Care (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate wound care in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally, works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
  • Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Novice): Knowledge of the specific equipment and its performance criteria, capabilities, and limitations. Able to use the equipment to accomplish basic tasks associated with the specific devices. May conduct remedial maintenance and preventive maintenance.
