Killingworth Elementary School is seeking a full-time paraprofessional.Position SummaryAssist general education teachers, special education teachers, and related service staff providers with maintaining effective instructional programs for students. Implements routines and supports under the direction of certified staff to assist with academic, physical, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.Essential FunctionsThe job description is illustrative and not a complete itemization of all duties and responsibilities.Ensure the safety of studentsMaintain the strictest confidence concerning personnel, students and operational concerns of the districtPromote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversationReport all cases of suspected child abuse to appropriate school personnel and proper government authorityAssist students with physical and/or educational needs both individually and in small groupsCollaborate with classroom teacher about students’ needs and requirements including IEP or 504 goals and accommodationsAssist students with classworkAssist with recess, supervision, restroom breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, etc.Provide assistance to classroom teacher, special education teacher, or related servicesProvide escort and mobility assistance to student(s) when necessaryProvide self-care, toileting and feeding assistance to students as necessaryCollect academic and behavioral dataEducation & ExperienceHigh school diplomaAssociates or Bachelors degree preferredExperience working with children or in a school settingRequired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
