- Prepares patient for examination by greeting patient in a positive, professional manner, gathering patient vitals, including weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respirations, and escorting patient to exam room
- Updates and documents patient's current medications, problem list, allergies, and health history, and relevant problems and/or complaints in the patient medical record
- Provides instruction, education, and direction to patients on routine medical questions, procedures and ordered tests
- Manages routine clinic in-box requests
- Supports administrative functions of the medical office by assisting the administrative staff when needed
- May assist in scheduling of patient procedure, lab, and x-ray appointments, as well as follow-up visits for the patient. Assures the patient is scheduled at the appropriate facility, that the patient is aware, and that the information is documented in the medical record
- Documents all patient care encounters accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
- Maintains exam rooms, cleansing between patients and restocking as needed
- Identifies safety issues or areas of concern and notifies Clinic Manager
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical field education at a technical college or equivalent is preferred
- WA Medical Assistant – Registered (MA-R) licensure preferred or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- Current CPR certification preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- One year clinical and/or medical office experience required or equivalent education/experience
- Communicate professionally with other medical facilities, patients, and team members
- Ability to maintain confidential information and work within the policies and procedures that govern patient care and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong ability to work within a team in a fast-paced environment adapting to changes and variation in assignments and tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and carry out instructions effectively
- Exhibits strong listening skills and effective customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word
- Ability to learn and work in health management information systems
- Occasional travel may be required to other local locations on an as-needed basis to back-fill for vacations, etc.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Prolonged periods of sitting/stationary work and performing administrative duties including the use of computers and phones
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel occasionally
- Ability to assist patients supporting weight, assisting in positioning of patients, etc.
- Ability to grasp small objects and manipulate medical instruments
- Ability to reach including reaching overhead and below waist
- Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently, occasional lifting 25 pounds
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
