- Conducts archaeological field work with the ability to identify artifacts and determine the presence of archaeological sites.
- Collects data and field samples during archaeological investigations.
- Analyzes historic and prehistoric artifacts.
- Documents methodologies and findings of research and archaeological investigations.
- Reviews and writes archaeological reports and/or prepares archaeological site forms.
- Assists in making decisions about project alternatives and the resolution of adverse effects to archaeological resources.
- Works with technical field, lab, and office staff, managers, and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet JMT and professional quality standards.
- Assists in business development through the preparation of proposals, budgets, and other marketing materials.
- Coordinates with clients throughout the project to ensure that projects meet JMT and professional quality standards and stay on schedule and budget.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related field.
- Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
- 8+ years of experience.
- Regional (Mid-Atlantic or Southeast) experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology.
- Experience leading a project team from start to finish.
- Demonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork.
- Must be able to provide a writing sample from either a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Registered Professional Archaeologist (or ability to become registered).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ArcMap and/or other GIS programs.
- Experience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related field.
