Join our team as we help shape the future.Consultant Claims BondExperienced surety claim handler wanted to join 6th largest writer of surety bonds in North America. The position requires the ability to independently conduct a legal investigation and coordination of financial and construction services for moderate to highly complex claims on Hartford bonds to comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements.ResponsibilitiesInvestigate payment and performance claims on construction bonds including recommendation of mitigation strategy, reporting to management and implementation of agreed strategyCommunicate with principals, obligees, claimants and others to analyze and resolve claimsReview proofs of loss and supporting documentation on commercial claimsSet accurate reserves, prepare Large Loss Memos and communicate progress of claim with bond managementSelect and amend as necessary appropriate form documents to implement mitigation strategy including takeover agreements, completion contracts, and default documents from the principal and salvage agreementsRefer litigation matters and actively manage outside litigation to achieve the most cost effective resultProvides active management of outside legal, accounting, construction or other professional resources to achieve best claim outcomes, including coordination with in-house professionals on scope design budgeting and monitoring work productMarshal assets and pursue salvage and subrogation opportunitiesMentor less experienced claim handlersTravel up to 15%QualificationsBachelor’s Degree RequiredJuris Doctorate RequiredMinimum of 8 years surety claim experienceAdditional Information:This role can be Hybrid or Remote as aligned with the Hartford's Return to Office initiative. If you live near a Hartford office location, you will work in office at least 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). If you are not near an office, this role will be 100% Remote, with the expectation of occasional in-office presence as business needs dictate.As a condition of your employment, you must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the states supported by your office. Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon the successful passage of the Licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the licensing training.For full-time, occasional, part-time or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Wi-Fi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps will be required. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
