PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Youngstown, Ohio (Zip: 44504) Northeast Ohio healthcare opportunity
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Unit (4SE)
- Employment Type: Travel RN (locum tenens)
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks
- Start Date: September 8, 2025
- End Date: November 29, 2025
- Shift: 12 Hour Days
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570 - $1680
- Unit Details: 28 beds, nurse-to-patient ratios 1:4-5, high acuity ICU stepdown patients
- Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (Ohio nursing license required for travel nurse jobs)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or stepdown RN experience
- Ventilator experience required
- Experience with insulin drips and high-acuity patient care strongly preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required
- Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available)
- Ability to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed (IMC, SDU, Med-Surg)
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyze clinical data, and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications and manage drips (including Cardizem, Amiodarone; no pressors)
- Provide care for patients with ventilators, tracheostomies, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, and Airvo devices
- Manage a diverse patient population: respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma cases
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and education
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Float to other PCU, SDU, IMC, and lower levels of care as needed
- Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment
