- Lead and oversee the electrical estimating process to ensure high accuracy and timeliness, meeting company sales goals and KPIs.
- Develop and deliver conceptual estimates with minimal information to guide clients during the early stages of a project.
- Evaluate milestone documents to identify changes in work scope and propose pricing for value engineering opportunities.
- Manage and improve company estimating systems, including the use of Connest or similar platforms.
- Mentor the electrical estimating team, ensuring alignment with company expectations and accountability for performance.
- Oversee the preparation of bids, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company objectives.
- Ensure timely follow-up on all bids, tracking results, and maintaining a high hit rate percentage.
- Coordinate with electrical trade partners, vendors, and subcontractors during the planning and bidding phases.
- Collaborate with field operations to provide pricing for change orders and support smooth project turnover processes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and team members to foster trust and repeat business.
- Build and maintain a historical cost database to assist with accurate bidding and project forecasting.
- Collect, organize, and analyze bid data to continuously improve estimating accuracy and processes.
- Track and report on key metrics, including hit rate percentage, bid accuracy, and total team bids (goal: 130 annually).
- 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating, with a focus on commercial projects exceeding $1 million.
- Proven ability of leadership within an estimating team.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, construction plans, and industry terminology.
- Proficient in estimating software systems, with Connest experience preferred.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam and other construction/estimating technology tools is beneficial.
- Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively working with clients, vendors, field personnel, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high levels of organization and accuracy.
- Strong focus on building and maintaining relationships with clients and industry partners.
