Job DetailsResponsibilities
  • Responsible for assisting the nurse in providing care to the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and infant patients during the perioperative phase of their hospitalization.
  • Assists the professional staff in the ASU to facilitate surgical cases by maintaining supplies and equipment including carts, scopes and video monitors used by Nurses and Anesthesiologists.
  • Coordinates all necessary services for repairs with ANCC
  • Assists the nursing personnel with surgical instrumentation and the disinfection and sterilization of equipment and instruments
  • Performs surgical case picks for same day and following day cases
  • Assists in preparing the surgical patient in the Holding Room and care of the post-operative patient in the PACU.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hospital experience required.
  • Previous OR experience preferred.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer patients/equipment, stand and walk for extended periods of time, and record and report information.
  • Responsible for overseeing the scheduling and daily assignments of the POSA.
  • Will participate in performing annual performance appraisals of perioperative assistants and in the education of new perioperative assistants.
  • BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:
  • American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
  • American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
Salary RangeUSD $26.28 - USD $39.42 /Hr.This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
