This position involves utilizing advanced mapping software to design and develop digital maps that facilitate key District initiatives. This position reports to the Executive Director of Transportation.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Conducts comprehensive analysis of street and address information within key data systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of GIS map data, including point addresses and related datasets. Utilizes spatial mapping techniques to identify patterns and trends, generating maps, applications, and tools to support District objectives. Manages a digital library of geographic maps in various file formats, ensuring accessibility and usability for stakeholders.Collaborates in the identification of student enrollment projections and contributes to route optimization and efficiency efforts.Engages with external entities, including other school systems and government agencies, to acquire necessary data such as street files and aerial imagery, and recommends corrective actions for data inaccuracies. Facilitates collaboration with District stakeholders through participation in meetings, in-service trainings, and workshops.Provides essential administrative support functions including filing, recordkeeping, and data entry as directed by the supervisor.All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Computer Science, GIS, or related field required.Minimum of five (5) years of database maintenance, GIS maintenance/support, planning, or closely related experience is required.Makes recommendations that affect the operations of the District.American Institute of Certified Planners Certification and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Professional Certification preferred.High level of judgment and independent decision-making required.Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance.Requires excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.High-level computer/technology competencies with respect to Microsoft Office platform. Mapping/Routing software, GPS tracking systems, and video/surveillance systems, etc. preferred.Normal office setting – May be required to respond to an emergency in the field.May be required to work additional hours to meet the operational needs of the Transportation Department.Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, pulling, pushing or stooping.NOTE: This is a grade 29, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a step 8.
