SummaryThis recruitment is to fill one Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position, or a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) for active, career service King County employees.The Facilities Management Division (FMD) has an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Customer Care team as a Customer Service Specialist lll. This position will provide in-person, front-facing customer service and support for the newly established Chinook Building Collaboration and Conference Centers, including the coordination of the use of space, responding to customer questions, and providing overall general support.This position will afford candidates the opportunity to showcase their experience in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:
  • Customer relationship management;
  • Customer service delivery;
  • Facility management/facility maintenance management;
  • Workload management;
  • Problem solving; and
  • Working on a team with common goals.
Essential Position Information:
  • The shift for this position will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • The reporting location will be at the King County Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave., Seattle, WA.
  • This opportunity will require onsite presence 5 days per week. There will be no telecommute options.
  • Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions are “at will” but are eligible for comprehensive benefits. This TLT is currently anticipated to last 12 months.
  • Special Duty Assignment (SDA) opportunities are open to active Career Service King County employees who have completed their initial County probationary period. Supervisors must provide approval prior to taking an SDA.

  • Build and maintain customer relationships by providing in person customer service and support to conference and collaboration center users including greeting visitors, assisting with wayfinding, and connecting with resources.
  • Manage and monitor calendar and desk reservation systems, update account settings, track usage.
  • Provide user support for conference room and shared desk resources.
  • Monitor and maintain conference center space to ensure room setups and resets are completed, and custodial services are requested as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance and/or training to co-workers and internal and/or external customers with regard to conference room and collaboration center resources.
  • Compose, draft, and prepare documents to ensure conformity to established policies, procedures, standards, and format.
  • Act as coordinator/liaison with management, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Determine validity, correctness, and completeness of information received including reviewing calendar appointments to identify room setup or support needs and reviewing reservation requests to ensure user experiences meet established goals and expectations.
  • Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone and by e-mail in a fast-paced setting that requires both speed and accuracy, while utilizing clear and concise speech in both written and verbal communications.
  • Perform administrative support tasks such as data entry, e-mail, and document records management.
  • Intake requests and queries from internal/external customers in person, as well as via phone/e-mail
  • Enter information into a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsWE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:Knowledge of customer service etiquette.Skill in communicating with people of diverse backgrounds.Skill in problem solving and troubleshooting.Skill in working independently.Skill in determining the validity of information received.Oral and written communication skills.Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite to manage shared calendars, perform data entry and retrieval tasks and perform word-processing, spreadsheet or other functions as required.Skill in using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Skill in planning and prioritizing work.Skill in articulating ideas verbally and in writing for diverse audiences.Skill in addressing politically sensitive issues.Skill in applying customer relations techniques.Skill in teaching others.Skill in business writing/correspondence.Skill in communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures under stressful conditions.Skill in problem solving with the ability to troubleshoot quickly, correct errors, detail oriented and work with a high level of accuracy, while working independently.IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:Knowledge of King County work locations and services.Experience delivering in person customer service.Experience with utilizing, troubleshooting, and supporting conference room technology and resources.Experience with documenting processes and procedures.Experience composing/generating and editing documents and correspondence.Experience with facility management including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, project work, and building systems.Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and working as an integral part of a team.Ability to be an independent thinker who looks for new ways to solve problems.Supplemental InformationApplication Process:
