The estimated annual salary range for this role is $27.00 - $30.00. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications and prior experience.
ResponsibilitiesPurpose:Machines equipment parts with proficiency on at least three machines and lathes (CNC and manual). Machines parts consistently meeting or exceeding manufacturing, safety and quality targets.Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:Reviews procedures, work orders, blueprints, set-up sheets and receives verbal work instructions to plan the job layout with as few set-ups as possible.Gathers required tooling and fixturing or places order with tool room if necessary.Calculates speeds, feeds, depths of cuts and tapers for machining.Identifies the type of material being used and performs hardness testing. Corrects or modifies tooling call-outs, offsets, speeds and feeds to allow for variations in the material.Sets-up machine as required using prescribed detail and operating procedures.30%Performs the majority of machining operations needed to complete the part. Consistently meets or exceeds manufacturing, safety and quality targets. May perform additional operations on product such as cleaning, deburring and sanding.Logs run and setup times. Makes recommendations to time standards on the routers as needed. Makes quality improvement and cost reduction recommendations.30%Uses measuring devices to check all part dimensions. Completes all Inspection documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Reports non-conformances.20%Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on assigned machines.15%Stocks and inventories tooling, fixtures, and jigs. Maintains a neat and organized work center.5%Occasional Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assigned. Assists in other areas of the shop as assigned
QualificationsRequirements:Knowledge and Skills:Ability to work from drawings and oral instruction.Must have mastered job layout and developed proficiency on at least three manual mills or lathes. Should be able to competently run all of one manual type of machine (any size lathe or any small vertical mill).Capable of writing and maintaining accurate setup sheets.Working knowledge of inspection gauges and equipment. Ability to independently inspect parts to drawings using Vernier’s, dial indicators, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, radius gauges, etc.Basic computer skills necessary for time recording.Good communication skills. Team player.Experience:Typically, at least 3 years’ experience in manual machining, including setup and operation in a metal fabrication environment. The ability to independently set up and operate required machines and to meet or exceed safety, quality and production standards is more important than time in a job.Experience in an OEM food, pharmaceutical or semiconductor part fabrication and assembly manufacturing equipment environment is a plus.Working experience in an ISO or continuous improvement environment is a plus.Work Environment and Physical Demands: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Work Environment: Spends majority of time in a manufacturing environment which is not air conditioned.
