They are responsible for curriculum planning and preparation, classroom management, and professional communication with parents. This Teacher must be observant and self-directed, adaptable to changes in the daily routine, and able to work cooperatively with others.PIV is a non-profit early learning center that offers morning programs for children ages 3 to 5 years old during the school year, September-June. PIV has supported young children and their families since 1996.Please respond with cover letter and detailed resume.DutiesResponsibilities:Classroom:
o Provide a safe, clean, organized environment.
o Present a variety of age-appropriate materials in a child-friendly way.
o Maintain classroom records, forms, and files.Curriculum:
o Implement a developmentally appropriate routine with play-based learning activities.
o Support the development of emerging self-help skills and independence.
o Promote physical development with large motor play both inside and outside.
o Provide a good balance of teacher-directed activities and free choice exploration.
o Plan experiences that promote the development of language, literacy, and math skills.
o Conduct assessments and use this information for curriculum planning.
o Participate in IEP/IFSP meetings and implement required accommodations.Students:
o Actively engage with children in their activities.
o Foster social and emotional development through the use of positive guidance.
o Treat all children with dignity and respect, allowing for individual differences.
o Maintain a positive learning environment with kind words and tone of voice.
o Identify the need for special services and assist with the referral process.
o Administer first aid and handle emergency situations according to school policies.Parents:
o Establish a partnership with parents to support the needs of each child.
o Encourage parents to visit and participate in the classroom.
o Conduct annual parent-teacher conferences.
o Produce weekly email updates and monthly newsletters for parents.Professionalism:
o Work in a collaborative partnership with co-lead or associate teacher.
o Communicate openly and professionally with all staff members.
o Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness for self-improvement.
o Attend staff meetings and assist with school-wide, family events.
o Complete annual training and set goals for ongoing professional development.RequirementsQualifications:
o Must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years old
o Must have a minimum of 18 credits in early childhood or elementary education or other field of study focused on children.
o 2 years of teaching experience in a classroom, after school program, summer camp, or daycare setting.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
