Join our team!Position Overview & Responsibilities: The Environmental Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for Christensen Farms' environmental compliance, nutrient management, and agronomy functions. This position oversees a dedicated team and is accountable for the planning, coordination, and performance of programs that ensure environmental stewardship and operational sustainability across the company. With a strong focus on people leadership, this role guides team members through clear expectations, coaching, and performance management to achieve business and regulatory goals. The Environmental Manager plays a key role in aligning environmental strategies with production operations, supporting long-term land application programs, and enhancing the value of CF's plant food resources through effective program oversight and development.From Our Manager:"You will have the opportunity to lead a team of professionals in providing environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance for the organization."-Hiring ManagerWhat You Will Do:
  • Supervise, support, and lead environmental, nutrient management, and agronomy team members in their daily job functions including compliance with company policies and protocols.
  • Coordinate with Agronomy Manager on the implementation of environmental and agronomy strategies.
  • Engage with Operations managers on improving swine facility operations, environmental, and agronomy results.
  • Ensure the environmental management program is executed, including maintaining regulatory compliance, data integrity, reporting requirements, manure storage capacity, on farm engagement, manure cooperator and custom applicator relationship management.
  • Lead Christensen Farms permitting efforts including ensuring complete applications, presenting at public hearings, representing at regulatory inspections and supporting neighbor relations management.
  • Provide interpretation and application of environmental regulatory standards across operations
  • Contribute to business planning, environmental management strategies, and year-end reporting.
What You Offer Us:
  • Minimum of five years of agri-business employment with strong environmental, conservation, or agronomy background and customer service experience.
  • Minimum formal education required: A.A., B.S. in Environmental Management, Agronomy, Soil Science, or other related.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to manage and develop others. Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly intelligent with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work in a collaborative environment, be willing to push the difficult issues and have a strong desire to understand the business to work in partnership with operational leaders.
  • Can adapt approach, time, and efforts in priority areas, and to produce results in a fast-paced environment.
