- Supports the process of social-emotional learning (SEL) by coaching students to effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions in the Title I school setting.
- Provides training, both initial and ongoing, to staff on the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
- Guides the teacher learning process toward working with student behavior and classroom management in order to better implement the personal learning plans of students.
- Creates and maintains a system of communicating positives to the school community, students and staff to celebrate successes in meeting achievements and expectations.
- Serves as a liaison for all Title I office referrals and makes recommendations to the school related to consequences based on the student's disciplinary history, infractions noted in BLOOM and PBIS awards.
- Sets up and conducts re-entry meetings for students who have been suspended, and as appropriate, develops intervention plans involving instruction of expected behaviors utilizing the “Restorative Circle” approach.
- Meets with students whose behavior data warrants intervention, to prevent behavior from escalating to where an office referral is warranted, and develops behavior tracking and intervention programs.
- Maintains effective communication with the Title I principal, staff, and parents on a scheduled basis regarding issues pertaining to the status of the student.
- Demonstrates experience in implementing or managing systems of positive behavior support in the classroom and consulting using proven methods.
- Possesses knowledge of the school district’s curriculum, practices and trends.
- Works on multiple projects and responds to requests and deadlines in an accurate, timely manner.
- Makes sound decisions within the parameters of authority.
- Works productively with diverse populations, teachers and parents.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, board members, parents, students, and community.
- Motivates and creates a shared vision within the school community.
