As the Mental Health Professional, working under close supervision, you will be responsible for increasing early access to care through observation, coordination, and delivery of services and referrals for children and adolescents receiving aftercare through the SC Afterschool Alliance.Responsibilities for this Mental Health Professional include:
- Provide direct service to Children, Adolescents and Families receiving afterschool care, to include Individual Counseling, Family Counseling, Behavior Modification and Family Support Services. Must maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Establish regular visit becoming familiar with the afterschool sites, prioritizing sites in need of immediate assistance. Provide support to families aimed at getting ahead of a potential family crisis.
- Link weekly with or as requested by the therapist serving the client referred to update on the status of the child as well as the behaviors in need of modification. Maintain compliance with the Pee Dee Mental Health Center productivity standard.
- Attend and complete program designated staffing and trainings, to include benefits training and work closely with care coordinator.
- Plan, under supervision of the therapist, activities to provide clients with improvement in needed areas.
- Identify, train, and support young adults with lived experiences on a career path to peer support positions within SCDMH.
- Perform other related duties as required by supervisor and/or Executive Director.

- Be able to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate coursework including Psychopathology/Psychopathology Diagnostics/Clinical Assessments - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) and Medical Ethics.
- Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum, internship, or post-graduate experience.
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
- Have working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices; of methods, principles, and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
- Have considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in a psychiatric setting.
- Have working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
- Be able to effectively plan, coordinate, and manage complex treatment and the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions, and recommend required actions.
- Have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a state vehicle.
