- Analyzes applicant's business plan, financial status, loan repayment ability, net worth and earnings history for new, renewal and existing loans, identifies the risks of a credit, underwriting policy exceptions and assigns appropriate loan quality grades with approval of credit administration manager.
- Evaluates complex credits which include borrowers with multiple related entities, unique structures and large lending limits.
- Identifies the key risk factors and mitigants related to a specific transaction, as well as his/her assigned portfolio.
- Develops a well-informed and balanced view of the business, financial, and competitive risks faced by a company, sector, and industry.
- Interprets financial information, bank policies and prepares reports for the Business Bankers, Risk Management and other areas of the bank as needed and when required.
- Works independently with minimal assistance and provides support to the Credit Administration Manager, as needed.
- Mentors Credit Analysts and Credit Administrators in interpreting financial information, loan underwriting, risk assessment and training/development.
- Assists with the management of the credit underwriting platform including annual reviews, covenant testing, reporting, document management and financial tracking.
- Reviews appraisals and other third-party reports to assess collateral values and identify potential risks in a particular transaction.
- Maintains the commercial financial credit files with emphasis on the timely and accurate filing of financial data and due diligence items.
- Provides technical advice and assistance to Business Bankers, Chief Business Banking Officer, Loan Review personnel and other key positions, as assigned and needed.
- Participates in customer due diligence calls as necessary, attends client / bank meetings to develop a better understanding of the company, collateral and to assess management.
- Performs tasks and other duties as assigned, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
- Bachelor's degree in related field (accounting/finance/economics) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum two years of Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial credit/lending experience required.
- Completion of a major corporate bank credit training program preferred.
- Broad exposure to credit practices, including credit structuring helpful.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills necessary.
- Familiarity with financial institution's business banking procedures required.
- Must have computer software proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in a credit underwriting platform.
- Must be able to read, interpret and analyze credit information.
- Requires strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously.
