North American ControllerIndustry: Chemical Manufacturing
Location: Cary, NCOverviewA leading chemical manufacturer is seeking a North American Controller to oversee financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations across the region. This role will lead a high-performing team, manage audit and reporting processes, and support strategic initiatives including M&A integration and finance transformation. The Controller will serve as a key technical expert on IFRS and accounting matters, partnering closely with global and commercial teams.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements (income, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.)
  • Act as the primary accounting contact for North America, supporting corporate controllership, FP&A, and commercial teams
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal policies
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
  • Perform balance sheet and P&L reviews, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Lead development of accounting controls and processes aligned with strategic goals and M&A activity
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, including lender-related audit requirements
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and internal controls
  • Support due diligence and integration of acquisitions
  • Lead and develop the regional accounting team
Qualifications
  • CPA or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 15+ years of experience in audit and accounting, including 7+ years in leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and SOX internal controls
  • Experience writing accounting memos and positions for complex transactions
  • Proven ability to lead in a matrixed, international environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Experience with finance transformation and process automation
  • Preferred experience with ERP and consolidation tools
