We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Sourcing Buyer Intern to join Winsupply Sourcing Services (WSS). This position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior sourcing professionals in managing the procurement and inventory process for a wide range of products across our 650+ local companies. As part of this role, you will contribute to improving inventory strategies, vendor management, and performance metrics to drive success for entrepreneurial businesses nationwide. You will gain hands-on experience with procurement systems, inventory management, and data analysis, while building relationships with vendors and internal teams.Key Job ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Inventory Management:
  • Assist with the procurement process by issuing purchase orders and managing inventory levels for multiple local companies.
  • Work with leadership and Senior Sourcing Buyers to ensure the timely replenishment of product lines and the effective management of existing supplier metrics, including fill rates, stockouts, inventory turns, and days on hand.
  • Review and resolve alerts generated from Purchasing Systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze historical data to develop and recommend strategies for inventory management, with a focus on improving vendor KPIs such as inventory turns and replenishment.
  • Help implement solutions to meet departmental benchmarks for inventory performance.
Vendor Management & Relationship Building:
  • Establish regular communication and relationship-building activities with vendors and local company contacts.
  • Assist in the on-boarding of new vendors and the management of existing supplier relationships to ensure high-quality service and compliance with performance metrics.
  • Actively support the recruitment and retention of local companies’ purchasing contracts, working to strengthen relationships and drive performance improvements.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Perform complex analysis of inventory data and generate reports on product lines, inventory turnover, and vendor performance.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems for tracking key performance metrics and suggest improvements based on findings.
  • Assist in presenting performance results and metrics to local companies at least annually.
Systems Maintenance & Integration:
  • Maintain and support the WSS purchasing software suite, including WISE, Trucommerce/Datalliance, and other integrated programs such as ERP, warehouse software, and BI systems.
  • Ensure seamless integration of software systems to deliver efficient service to local companies.
General Support:
  • Network with senior internal personnel to make effective business decisions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned, including up to 10% overnight travel as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college, either at the undergraduate or master’s level.
  • One semester post-graduation
