As part of our continued growth in the Transmission & Distribution sector, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead/Senior Substation Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects and contribute to the safe, efficient, and resilient design of high-voltage substations that support the nation's energy transition.Position Summary:The Lead/Senior Substation Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects that power critical infrastructure across the country. This role involves overseeing complex technical work, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring high-quality, code-compliant designs.   • Lead the design and coordination of high-voltage substation projects (up to 500kV) through all phases from conceptual studies and preliminary design to construction documents and commissioning support.
  • Oversee the development of substation physical and electrical designs, including one-line diagrams, grounding, protection and control schemes, equipment layouts, and cable/conduit plans using Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, AutoCAD-3D, and related tools.
  • Provide technical leadership for substation design activities, ensuring consistency with project scope, schedule, quality expectations, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients and contractors, supporting scoping meetings, progress reviews, and field issue resolution.
  • Perform and review detailed power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, relay coordination, and grounding analyses using ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, CYMCAP, CDEGS and similar platforms.
  • Prepare and review engineering reports, design calculations, equipment specifications, and construction packages including protection and control wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 8+ years of experience in substation engineering, including lead-level responsibility for both physical and protection/control design on utility-scale projects
  • Proven expertise in high-voltage substation design (69kV to 500kV), with in-depth knowledge of equipment and control systems, strong understanding of laying out switchyards, electrical gear and spaces,, sizing branch circuits, laying out devices, lighting layout and circuitry including lighting controls.
  • Proficient in power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, CYME or CDEGS.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD-3D, Inventor and Revit for substation design and modeling; MicroStation or Bentley experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables
  • Experience mentoring or managing engineering teams on medium to large-scale projects
