We'd love to have you on board as we tackle that challenge, in new ways, every day.An Intern is a temporarily employed college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience.#RIE Responsibilities:Gain experience and exposure to practical applications within the utility industry. Individual normally works under close supervision; performs a variety of projects that have specific instructions and expected results.As an intern, you will be assigned to a Supervisor and/or a Coach/Mentor.You will be assigned day-to-day tasks as well as a project that will last the duration of your assignment. The project may be a team effort or individual.At the end of your internship, you will present to a team of company employees the results of your project and overall summary of your experience.This position is a safety-sensitive role. Upon acceptance of a conditional offer, all individuals in safety-sensitive roles are obligated report the use of any medication that may impair their ability to perform the job in a safe manner.As part of the Regional Engineering Substation team you will gain experience with electrical and mechanical equipment and systems, programming, software, evaluation tools and general project management. We support the operations, maintenance, and construction of 100+ substations in the state of RI.Requires limited travel in and out of RI to attend meetings and investigate field conditions at various locations. Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degreefrom an accredited college or university program in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineer, Electromechanical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer
  • GPA requirement: 2.0 or higher
  • Be a rising junior, senior, or graduate student
  • Eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.
  • Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Travel within the service territory may be required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
