Talascend is currently seeking an Emissions Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Plymouth, Michigan.OverviewThe role involves providing emissions, test system, equipment, and facility support services to meet project demands within engine and vehicle test facilities.Responsibilities
  • Support setup, calibration, repair, and maintenance of measurement and facility equipment within the test laboratory.
  • Perform and document test cell and facility equipment calibrations to quality specifications.
  • Maintain laboratory calibration database.
  • Responsible for the quality of all measurement test system data results.
  • Create process documentation detailing any unique areas of test cell operation.
  • Setup and parameterization of data acquisition systems.
  • Integrate standard test equipment into data acquisition systems.
  • Present informal operator instruction of lab measurement and test systems.
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve operations.
  • Comply with the quality system and observe all safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications
  • 2 Year technical degree is preferred.
  • 5 years' experience with test cell/facility operation, calibration, and maintenance.
  • 2+ years' hands-on experience in servicing and repair of emissions and measurement equipment for automotive testing.
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of various engine and vehicle test cell measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with standardized test cycles and regulations.
  • Ability to diagnose problems with complex systems.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of electronics and proper wiring methods.
  • Experience with gasoline, alt fuels, and diesel engine test cell setups.
  • Experience with executing automated testing routines.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Working level second language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors.
  • Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Adherence to PPE regulations in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Domestic/international travel with/without overnight stay may be required.
ShiftEmployees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week which can be more than forty (40) hours per payroll week.
