Additional information about the company can be found online at www.bwpipelines.com.We are currently looking for an Inspector/ Senior Inspector for our Lafayette, LA office.POSITION DESCRIPTION:This position will reside within the BWP system and will travel as needed on BWP system performing various inspection duties including serving as Chief Inspector on various types of projects. This position will report to supervisor of construction and will work closely with E & C department personnel, Field Operations personnel, variuos PMs, CMs, compliance groups and 3rd party personnel. This position will seek to achieve all expectations on safety, work quality, timing and cost on assigned projects.Duties will include performing and inspection of safety sensitive tasks related to working on and around in-service pipeline facilities, receiving materials, ensuring correct materials are on site and installed correctly, assiting in selection, training and development of 3rd party personnel. This position will assure that all applicable company, local, state, federal and customer expectations are meet, including the timely preparation and distribution of required completion documentation.
The job requires long days, possibly 6-7 days per week and the person must be able to lift 50# as well as walk long distances in all weather conditions.REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:Strong work ethic
Natural gas industry and pipeline facility construction experience
Good oral and written communication skills
Proficient in operating a personal computer
Ability to read, interpret and implement BWP construction specs, contract documents, drawings, alignment sheets,valve maps, land owner line lists, BWP O & M manuals, etc.
Analytical approach to technical problems
Sound critical and economic thinking skills
Ability to maintain good working relationships with all internal and external stake holders
Strong commitment to personal and team safety
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to travel up to 90% of the timePREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:Welding background
Familiar with DOT192,195, FERC, OSHA and API 1104 regulations
Experience in cost estimating and scheduling projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
