Job Description:OverviewSalary: $60,000 - $75,000 AnnuallyLooking for a career where your accounting skills can make a positive impact?As Staff Accountant, you’ll have a hands-on role supporting the Ozinga Family Office accounting functions. Reporting to the Lead Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial data by accurately reporting, validating and analyzing transactions.You will also contribute to the preparation of financial reports for the various companies and trusts managed by the Family Office. Success in this position requires close collaboration with various process owners and department staff, ensuring that stakeholders consistently receive complete, reliable financial information to support enterprise-wide decision making.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting
  • Perform monthly close activities including preparation of manual journal entries, account reconciliation and analysis and review of general ledger data for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement packages for departmental management and executive team
  • Coordinate and execute the Accounts Payable process
  • Monitor all banking activity
  • Review and approve expense report postings to the general ledger
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Ledger
Teamwork
  • Work with the Tax team to ensure that financial transactions, as recorded, provide support for Tax team filing requirements
  • Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis team during the yearly budget cycle to develop budgets with input from stakeholders
  • Contribute and support departmental and organizational goals through special projects as identified
QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with an accounting emphasis required
Experience
  • New college graduates or those with 1–2+ years of accounting experience
Skills & Strengths
  • Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, including willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
  • Problem solver willing to take on new challenges/assignments with a focus on regular improvement/enhancement
  • Willingness to embrace and champion new software
  • Understanding/sensitivity to confidential matters
