
Healthcare Maintenance Technician

- Perform routine plumbing repairs including fixing faucets, unplugging toilets and drains, and maintaining water systems
- Replace various lighting components including LED bulbs, fluorescent lights, and standard bulbs throughout facilities
- Execute electrical repairs such as replacing receptacles and troubleshooting basic electrical issues under supervision
- Complete carpentry tasks including ceiling tile replacement, installing door stops, adjustable shelving, and hanging equipment like whiteboards
- Assist HVAC technicians with continuous cleaning of vents and changing filters, valves, and other components as directed
- Conduct facility experience rounds as assigned to identify maintenance needs and ensure optimal building conditions
- Document time, materials used, and completed tasks on work orders while maintaining clear communication with team members
- Completion and certification from Triton College/Local 399 Healthcare Facilities Maintenance Certificate Program or equivalent coursework approved by management
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and drug screening due to access requirements for secured buildings
- Demonstrated ability to use common maintenance tools including hammers, drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, and saws safely and effectively
- Physical capability to work in various conditions including small spaces, at elevations greater than ten feet, and for extended periods while standing, kneeling, or walking
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with staff, patients, and fellow employees
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings with supervisory guidance
- Color vision capability necessary for electrical work and safety compliance
- Previous experience in healthcare facility maintenance or similar institutional environment
- Familiarity with OSHA safety procedures and building maintenance best practices
- Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems in commercial settings
- Experience working in team-oriented, collaborative environments where knowledge sharing is valued
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development in facilities management
