
Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Chinle, AZ

- Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Conduct detailed histories, physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic studies.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, including prescribing medications.
- Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and heart disease.
- Treat acute illnesses, minor injuries, and urgent conditions as appropriate for the OPD setting.
- Provide immunizations, preventive screenings, and health education.
- Coordinate care and make appropriate referrals to specialty and support services.
- Counsel patients and families on preventive health measures, treatment compliance, and lifestyle modification.
- Promote health literacy and engage in culturally sensitive communication with Navajo Nation community members.
- Work closely with physicians, other PAs/NPs, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health staff.
- Participate in case reviews, team huddles, and quality improvement activities.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with Indian Health Service policies, federal regulations, and HIPAA requirements.
- Participate in performance audits, chart reviews, and quality assurance programs.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a PA or NP in any U.S. state or territory.
- National certification as a PA (NCCPA) or NP (ANCC, AANP, or equivalent).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- One or more years of primary care experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations considered.
- Experience in rural or underserved healthcare settings preferred.
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (typical)
- On-call rotations: Evenings, weekends, and federal holidays as scheduled
- May involve coverage for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department consults.
