The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District announces an opening for an Instructional Services Director II - Professional Development position. The Instructional Services Director II - Professional Development will be under the immediate supervision of an Instructional Services Director III and the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.DESCRIPTIONThe Instructional Services Director II - Professional Development will provide leadership to instructional staff and support personnel related to professional learning, implementation and progress monitoring. Leadership will include the coordination of professional learning supporting District initiatives such as professional development systems and structures, instructional infrastructure, multi-tiered systems of instruction/intervention, assessment, educational technology, parent involvement and District-wide curriculum activities. Special area(s) of focus may include supporting teachers in the development and implementation of the new learning strategies and activities, extended learning programs, and coordinating the implementation of the instructional professional development plan for the district.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the district’s instructional design services.
  • Administer a variety of professional learning opportunities to support teachers in instructional design strategies, within curriculum, assessment, and multi-tiered systems of support.
  • Collaborate with staff and coordinate the District’s professional learning implementation of effectiveness over time, identify trends, utilize implementation reports for the school board and extended cabinet members, and provide real-time, online access to coursework designed and implementation rates to inform educational decision making.
  • Collect statistical information and prepare reports of findings, trends and inferences.
  • Provide support and training for Academic Coaches.
  • Provide support and training for certificated and classified staff.
  • Provide assistance and leadership in planning the integration of curriculum-based lesson design in district instructional programs for K-8 teachers and Induction, meet with PLC groups to discuss ways to integrate professional learning and to support teachers as they actively implement new learning in their classrooms.
  • Provide support for new teachers with the implementation of the induction program.
  • Coordinate instruction to encourage curriculum integration in the classroom.
  • Provide training on district and school technology programs.
  • Support the professional learning, new and ongoing, in partnership with the ACT department.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the effective implementation, organization, administration, and evaluation as well as the integration of new and emerging instructional strategies to increase student achievement within the district.
  • Organize, direct, supervise and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Participate in a wide variety of planning and development activities, including district-wide committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Valid California Teaching Credential
  • Valid Administrative Services Credential
  • Master's degree from an accredited university with major coursework in Education or related field. Doctorate desired.
  • At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at more than one grade level.
  • Three to five years of successful experience as an administrator desired.
SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICEAnnual Salary Range: $132,680-$160,847 nine (9) steps, 260 day calendar (245 working days + 15 holidays), eight (8) hours per day. Placement on the salary schedule is determined by the number of years of administrator experience. $2,500/year stipend for a Doctorate Degree; Longevity of $1,500 after 15 years of qualified District service and $3,500 after 20 years of qualified District service. Additional days, evenings/weekends as needed to perform related job duties and responsibilities. The District currently contributes up to $19,793.00 per year to family dental, medical, and vision insurance plans and a life insurance plan for employee only.APPLICATION PROCEDURE
