DescriptionSummary:The Team Lead is a responsible member of the OR Leadership team who uses available resources to meet physician and customer needs. Role reflects a balance between management and clinical practice. Works with OR Supervisor/Director to promote a team environment and maintains good communication with Director, Supervisor, Surgeons and Staff.CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility in the area with a Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.
  • The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab and surgical suites
  • A teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine
  • Accredited Chest Pain Center
  • Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team
Responsibilities:
  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Under the direction of the Peri-op Services Director/OR RN Lead/Charge Nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior, during and after any surgical procedure.
  • As the lead First Assist for a service line, provides leadership, education, direction, support and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service.
  • Includes care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times and inventory management.
  • Daily collaboration with OR RN Lead.
  • Is a mentor/coach for orientees within that service line.
Job Requirements:Education/Skills
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
Graduation from accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or School of Surgical Technology requiredExperience2 years of Surgical Tech experience requiredLicenses, Registrations, or Certifications
  • BLS required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant required
  • ACLS preferred
