
Water Resources Engineer III

- Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
- Assist in the development of project specifications.
- Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
- Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
- Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
- Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
- Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, or
- PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling software experience.
- Exhibiting experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Maryland or Virginia.
- Mentoring and training junior staff members.
- Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.
- Optimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Valid driver's license required for this position
- Detail-oriented team player with an ability to deliver high quality work and contribute to a positive work environment
- Experience with MDOT, VDOT and DDOT projects
- Relevant experience in Water Resources, Land Development, or Site Civil
- Experience delivering transportation infrastructure design projects in Maryland, Virginia, and/or DC
- Experience supporting design-build and/or P3 projects
- Experience with ArcGIS, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, InRoads Storm and Sanitary, HEC-RAS, Pondpack and/or HydroCAD, HY-8, and/or HEC-RAS or similar hydraulic modeling software.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to apply DEQ and state DOT design guidelines, policies, and practices to address complex design challenges.
- Familiarity with as-built construction inspections of SWM facilities in accordance with Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) regulations.
- SWM Certification for State and Federal Projects.
