- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that attract, develop, motivate, and retain top talent within the luxury hospitality sector. Align HR initiatives with the hotel's overall business strategy, ensuring a competitive edge in the talent market.
- Oversee the entire talent lifecycle, from sophisticated recruitment and onboarding processes designed for a luxury environment, to performance management, succession planning, and leadership development. Ensure a pipeline of highly skilled and service-oriented professionals.
- Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain high-caliber employees while remaining financially responsible and aligned with luxury market standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention. Expertly manage employee relations, resolve conflicts, and ensure compliance with all labor laws and regulations. Develop and implement programs that reinforce the hotel's commitment to employee well-being and professional growth.
- Identify training needs and develop comprehensive programs that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and service delivery, particularly in areas critical to luxury service standards, such as etiquette, personalized guest experiences, and brand ambassadorship.
- Implement robust performance management systems that provide regular feedback, set clear expectations, recognize achievements, and address areas for improvement, all within the context of delivering exceptional guest service.
- Ensure the hotel's HR practices are in full compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Mitigate HR-related risks and ensure the safety and security of employees.
- Act as a custodian of the hotel's unique luxury culture, promoting its values, vision, and mission through all HR initiatives. Ensure that every employee embodies the hotel's brand ethos and delivers service that exceeds guest expectations.
- Oversee all HR operational aspects, including HRIS management, record-keeping, and general HR administration, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensures that all guest interactions meet the highest level of service and warm welcome/departure for all guests.
- Prepare budget forecasts for the Human Resource department by analyzing and estimating past and future costs using moderately complex mathematical calculations.
- Monitor safety programs and Worker’s Compensation claims.
- Maintain all hotel personnel records and Human Resources files ensuring confidentiality where necessary.
- Compose, type and distribute general Human Resources correspondence, such as those announcing policy revisions.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work large complex programs with great attention to detail while continually presenting a positive attitude, great customer skills and a passion to succeed.
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in order to prepare official memorandum and correspondence as well as provide clear and meaningful instructions, guidance and counseling to all team members.
- Analytical abilities to make sound decisions.
- Knowledge of basic hotel operations.
- Knowledge of standard hotel policies.
- Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
- Ability to organize detailed information.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Supervisory skills to manage Human Resource operations.
- The ability to work independently and prioritize projects.
- Visual ability to observe team members in the workplace, analyze operations and detect situations of concern with regard to areas such as employee performance, grooming, training, policy adherence and morale.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality or human resources preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years Director of Human Resources experience preferred.
- Luxury Hotel Human Resource experience preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish Required.
