If you are ready to join an international company with talent around the world, and want to make a real impact, we want you on our team.What You'll Do:The Fire Maintenance Technician’s purpose is to help protect the people, property, environment, and community from the threat of emergencies that may arise at the plant. This role supports that purpose by maintaining fire protection systems and emergency response equipment, providing emergency response training, and working with outside agencies. Responsibilities also include participation in hot work, confined space entry, and hazardous material handling.What We're Looking For:
Coordinate, oversee and document the maintenance, testing, and inspections on fire protection systems and emergency response equipment, including sprinkler and foam systems, extinguishers, respiratory protection, vehicles, doors, pumps, and medical equipment.
Work with planning department and outside vendors to secure quotes and purchase orders for preventative maintenance work
Support evacuation and emergency response drills
Support Incident Commander during emergencies and function as secondary to the emergency response supervisor
Respond to all internal emergencies
Troubleshoot and manage the fire alarm panel system
Provide support for any Health, Safety, Environmental and Security issues in the field
Participate and assist with; Fire, EMS, Hazmat, Confined Space Rescue and HSES Training
Maintain housekeeping of all Emergency Response Department areas
Function as point of contact with vendors for department related projects that can include new sprinkler installations, current system modifications and repairs
Review NFPA codes to ensure compliance with all fire protection related maintenance, testing, and documentation
Participate in internal and external audits (e.g., FM Global, Corporate, and Fire Department)
Promote a strong safety culture and always exhibit a high level of professionalism
Take on additional duties as assigned
Skills That Make a Difference:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum five years in an industrial or commercial setting with maintenance or facility operations experience
Must have or be able to obtain the following licenses/certifications within 3 years:
Certified volunteer firefighter for Ohio
Pro-board-certified exterior firefighter at Texas A&M
HAZWOPER 40 Hour Technician Certification
CPR/AED instructor
Fire extinguisher training instructor
Certified fire protection individual for Ohio
Must have or be able to obtain the following licenses/certifications within 5 years:
Emergency Medical Technician -Basic
Fire Instructor for Ohio
Fire Instructor at Texas A&M
Ability to perform classroom and hands-on emergency response training
Knowledgeable of Microsoft office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to operate a tow-motor and aerial lift equipment
Ability to attend after-hours training for all required licenses and certifications
Considered a Plus:
Experience working within multi-discipline emergency response teams (HAZMAT, Fire Brigade, Emergency Medical, Confined Space-High Angle Rescue, and Incident Command)
Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science Technology or a related field
Current Firefighter Certification
Current Emergency Medical Technician Certification
Incident Command experience
Experience in maintenance and repair of fire protection equipment or plumbing
Experience in the chemical industry
Ability to read blueprints and drawings
Experience with multi-building fire alarm management systems
FEMA - National Incident Command System Training (e.g., Is-100, Is-200, etc..)
Working Conditions:
70% Inspections and Testing / 20% Office Work / 10% Emergency Response Activities
Ability to work in hot/cold environments, walking, standing, climbing ladders and working in confined spaces
Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work a flexible workweek at times required to accommodate facility needs that includes training (different shifts), maintenance and off-hours emergencies
Able to wear PPE including hard hats, hearing protection, respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus and safety shoes
