
Safety and Risk Manager (Remote)

- Manage the company's safety program and assist in development and implementation of safety training programs for compliance with OSHA regulations and other federal, state or local requirements.
- Utilize data collected from branch incidents, accidents, driver events, violations, and all data related to risk management to identify trends and determine the area of focus for training and support from the safety team.
- Recommend and develop policies and procedures for loss prevention and risk control with attention to the cost-benefit ratio. Develop and implement new standards of practice and procedures for safe operational activities.
- Seek out and implement best practices and new technologies to promote and document desired behaviors and efficiencies within warehousing and logistics.
- Oversee the adoption and utilization of corporate programs that support safety compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Compile all documentation and ensure the accurate reporting of general liability and other claims (hurricane, auto, etc.).
- Oversee the collection of documentation for workers' compensation insurance claims and coordinate follow-up activity with third party administrator and Irby Human Resources
- Ensure compliance with the Company's DOT and FMCSA program (includes DOT files, ELD program, Drivers Alerts, Vehicle Decals, CSA scores, Driver violations, and DOT Handbook) in collaboration with corporate and local management teams.
- Liaise between field operations and SUSA management on various projects.
- Facilitate and maintain registrations with favorable ratings in third party safety programs like ISNetworld.
- Conduct in-person safety training and audits (including forklift training, ELD training, and safety meetings).
- Lead and effectively manage a team of associates functionally assigned to managed programs, safety compliance and federal regulations, providing ongoing support, coaching and direction to optimize performance and engagement and achieve business goals.
- Perform building specification and plan reviews of new facilities that include, but are not limited to, new construction, remodels, upgrades, and maintenance to assure compliance with local fire regulations and building codes.
- Function as team leader for all safety-related activities for the opening of new or remodeled warehouses.
- Minimum intermediate level of skill in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Ability to explain complex issues to teach and train in individual and group settings.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks to coordinate large sized projects.
- Desire to drive continuous improvement with strong attention to detail.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
- Willingness and ability to work in both office and warehouse environments, as well as via remote tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and/or five to seven years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to four years of demonstrated experience managing Federal DOT regulated fleet programs including Hours of Service rules and electronic log compliance.
