Position InformationThis is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice.Examination:Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of the application.Should an oral exam be necessary, the oral exam will be weighted 100%.Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards:One (1) year of experience inspecting, testing, repairing and maintaining specialized emergency services equipment.Qualifying related work experience may include inspection, maintenance and repair of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), high pressure air compressors, hydraulic rescue tools, personal protective equipment (PPE); and the installation and maintenance of specialized fire equipment on fire apparatus.Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license at the time of appointment.Some positions may require within the six-month probationary period:
  • A valid California Class B Commercial Driver's license. Failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment.
  • First Responder Maintenance and Repair Respiratory Protection Equipment Certificate as required by the manufacturer. Failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment.
  • Care and Maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment Certificate as required by the manufacturer. Failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment.
  • Maintenance and Repair of Rescue Equipment Certificate as required by the manufacturer. Failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment.
