For more urban pursuits, Roanoke, Charlotte, and Washington D.C. are not far away.Job Description:Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a Reading Specialist position that is available at Price’s Fork Elementary School for the 2025 – 2026 school year.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:To develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement as a Reading Specialist
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum materials
  • Possess ability to effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement appropriate instruction
  • Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
  • Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework
  • Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
  • Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
  • Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Reading Recovery and/or early literacy programs
  • Experienced or have working familiarity with intervention programs
