- Provide technical reviews and perform updates to PCBAs and fabrication packages to ensure internal manufacturability, alignment with supply chain, and quality of design.
- Execute, review, and approve PCB and PCBA fabrication and assembly files in an Engineering Change Control System.
- Support initial builds of PCBAs and electromechanical medical devices, including design reviews, troubleshooting technical issues, and root cause investigation.
- Provide direction to Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers in transitioning PCB & PCBA designs to manufacturing.
- Guide PCB Designers in updating designs to enhance manufacturability.
- Provide guidance to manufacturing and engineering technicians on best practices and troubleshooting.
- Establish best practices for transitioning complex PCBA to internal manufacturing, aligning with supply chain needs, reducing costs, and increasing production speed.
- Support product development from early concept through commercial manufacturing, aligning design complexity with organizational capabilities.
- Manage design changes for obsolete or high-risk components.
- Troubleshoot electrical failures in PCBAs and medical devices, recommending design changes to prevent future failures.
- Mentor engineering staff to enhance their technical knowledge in electrical engineering and PCBA manufacturing.
- Collaborate with test engineering electrical engineers to develop best practices in test and automation for PCBAs.
- Identify and implement creative opportunities to add value to customer programs and products beyond project scope.
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Operations experience with PCBA and PCB manufacturing.
- Ability to generate and review fabrication and assembly files for printed circuit bare boards and assemblies.
- Understanding and application of PCB & PCBA fabrication and assembly processes.
- Experience with PCBA manufacturing equipment such as wave solder, selective solder, ICT, 2D & 3D AOI, X-ray, PCBA wash, pick & place, and reflow oven.
- Capability in obsolescence review and identification of alternative components.
- Experience implementing design changes through a controlled engineering change system.
- Proficiency with ODB++ file formats.
- Experience with Altium or another PCB CAD tool, and CAM.
- Knowledge of industry standards including IPC-A-610, IPC-7711, IPC-7721, IPC-J-STD.
- Mentorship experience to foster technical growth in engineering staff.
- Creative problem-solving skills to provide value beyond defined project constraints.
