Location: Houston, TX 77092
Type of Position: Temp-to-HireResponsibilities:
- Operate manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, slotting machines, and radial arm drills to machine parts to precise specifications.
- Produce and repair precision components using manual equipment and accurate measurement techniques.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering instructions to determine machining methods, sequences, and tolerances.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
- Inspect completed parts for accuracy using precision measurement tools to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and service on machines to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including proper completion of QA cards and hazard assessments (e.g., START Cards).
- Report any issues with work instructions, tooling, or machine performance to the Supervisor immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general housekeeping in the department.
- Provide support and collaborate with other workshop personnel as required.
- Proven experience as a manual machinist in a manufacturing or repair environment.
- Strong knowledge of manual machining techniques and equipment.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) with accuracy.
- Understanding of metal properties and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining is a strong plus
