- Directs and leads the resident care and medication programs.
- Assists the Business Office Manager with new hire paperwork, time sheets, and evaluations.
- Completes or oversees scheduling for all medication and care assistants.
- Participates in clinical on-call schedule and assumes roles as needed to ensure quality care.
- Maintains high staff morale and fosters a supportive work environment.
- Key member of the Community’s emergency response team during declared emergencies and disasters.
- Provides training, supervision, and monitoring of Medication Assistants, including auditing of medication sheets, medication passes, shift change MAR audit, and narcotic counts.
- Ensures all medications have orders, are available, and are correctly transcribed in the EMAR.
- Maintains ongoing communication with residents, their families, physicians, and pharmacies regarding medication needs.
- Trains, supervises, and monitors Resident Assistants in following resident service plans.
- Initiates resident service plans based on individual needs as prescribed by physicians or community policy.
- Ensures daily services are completed and service plans are updated promptly.
- Manages the health care of all residents, including communicating with families, staff, physicians, and third-party providers.
- Performs on-site assessments of residents in hospitals or skilled nursing facilities and maintains contact with families and discharge planners.
- Completes pre-admission assessments and updates as needed.
- Meets with residents regularly for health and wellness checks.
- Reviews medical reports prior to move-in to ensure individual needs can be met and regulatory requirements fulfilled.
- Monitors and assesses residents' skin and wounds, obtaining physician orders for treatments and interventions.
- Ensures ancillary medical services such as podiatrist, doctor, dental, and psych visits are scheduled and followed through.
- Becomes proficient in dementia/Alzheimer’s care.
- Trains memory care staff in collaboration with the Life Enrichment Director over activities, life stories, and redirection techniques.
- Ensures staff participate in daily activities with residents and work with the Life Enrichment Director.
- Coordinates family council for the memory care unit.
- Communicates directly with other disciplines involved in resident care regularly.
- Completes assigned duties that may change based on resident needs, staffing levels, and working circumstances.
- Works a full-time schedule with some weekend work and on-call duties.
- Participates in the community’s Manager on Duty rotation.
- Maintains a professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum one year of management experience in senior living or related health programs, memory care experience preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited LVN/LPN/RN program.
- Experience in geriatric nursing, emergency care, and first aid.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN or LVN/LPN in Texas.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid Continuing Education credits as required by the State.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Effective leadership skills in fiscal clinical management, strategic planning, and staff development.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with key staff, marketing contacts, and clinical staff.
- Ability to evaluate performance and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Ability to work autonomously, set priorities, and make independent decisions.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organized, attentive to detail, and possesses a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor.
- Flexibility with changing priorities and able to communicate diplomatically.
- Flexible in hours, shifts, and days available to work.
