Eliot's Homeless Services Division is seeking a dedicated Recovery Coach to join our PATH (Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness) Team which offers a wide range of services, including outreach, case management, mental health treatment, housing assistance, and referrals to other resources for adults with serious mental illness, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders.The ideal candidate will be able to provide guidance in the recovery process, including advocacy, support and education.Responsibilities:
  • Empower mental health and substance use clients to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life. Assist with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with staff and provide training to ensure that the client's perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized and that choices are maximized.
  • Assist clients with being able to identify personal methods of recovery from mental illness and/or substance use and to develop self-management plans.
  • Promote hope and empowerment
  • Assist the client and the staff in developing client centered plans. Assist clients with communicating their personal recovery goals.
  • Provide information and training on recovery tools and techniques, self-management strategies.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year experience working with adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse. May substitute six months of experience with a college degree in the human services field.
  • Must be receiving mental health and/or substance use services or received services in the past and have self-knowledge to manage their illness with an established recovery process.
  • Ability to provide flexible services that are community based
  • Must enroll and attend the Recovery Coach Certification Program.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Recovery Coach Certified a plus
  • Bilingual candidates fluent in a needed language may be eligible for a 6% salary increase.
