- Interview DOD military and civilian personnel of all ranks and grades to advise of shipping entitlements for the movement and storage of privately owned personal property, i.e. household goods (HHG's), unaccompanied baggage (UB), mobile homes, privately owned vehicles (POV's), pets, weapons and other items.
- Shipments are to all points in CONUS and OCONUS.
- At the time of interview, reviews applicant's orders to determine if shipment or storage may be authorized at Government expense in accordance with current regulations.
- Questions the applicant as to their needs and the services he /she desires, i.e., method of shipment desired, mode of shipment, estimate of effects to be shipped and their weight, data on unusual items that would require special handling; date pick up desired; date required at destination, etc.
- Using the Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System (TOPS) allocate domestic/international personal property shipment to commercial carrier industry.
- Route/Book shipment prepares Government Bills of Lading and distributes to carrier representative and destination transportation offices.
- Prepare certified copies of GBL and GBL correction notices when required.
- Initiate tracer actions through commonly used channels to locate lost or delayed shipments and missing items.
- Process request for shipments by the Personal Procured Move method.
- Compute estimated and actual cost, prepare documents required for service members and DFAS to settle all claims.
- Process Claims for Reimbursement, determine entitlements and prepare documents for submission to DFAS for payment.
- Participate in any Transportation test programs as may be required by higher headquarters.
- Conducts group briefings for commercial and Personal Procured Moves either on site or at other locations.
- Prepare and distribute documents for relocation moves in accordance with local contracts.
- Compute and prepare documentation to collect excess cost on outbound or outbound shipments.
- Collect excess cost and prepares documentation for deposit.
- Performs other duties as may be required.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, multiĀ¬ functional copier, fax, and office phone.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite products, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Operate government systems to process household goods moves and Government Regulations.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
- Must be able to work in fast paced office environment.
- Working hours are subject to change based on mission requirements.
- May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.
- Frequently lifts equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally assists lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Employee stands for long periods.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- NAC-1 clearance required.
- Valid State Driver's License without restrictions.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Formal transportation schooling is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Department of Defense and Military Traffic Management Command policies and regulations
- Understanding of the JFTR, JTR and AR 55-71.
- Experience in household goods movement operations is a plus either Government or commercial industry.
