- Construct comprehensive valuation models for companies within coverage universe, including multi-year forecasts of revenue, earnings, cash flow, EBITDA, dividends, and other critical financial metrics
- Employ multiple valuation methodologies (DCF, relative multiples, sum-of-parts, etc.) to establish justified target prices and determine fair value ranges
- Develop and maintain proprietary financial models that incorporate sensitivity analysis and scenario testing to account for various economic and industry-specific conditions
- Implement rigorous due diligence processes, including thorough analysis of financial statements, regulatory filings, and corporate disclosures
- Integrate the firm's quantitative tools into fundamental analysis, including Company Quality Scores, Dividend Quality Scores, and proprietary valuation metrics
- Establish well-founded views on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and structural shifts to better estimate company fundamentals and identify emerging opportunities
- Maintain deep knowledge of sector-specific metrics, KPIs, and performance benchmarks critical to evaluating companies within coverage universe
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and investor events to gather firsthand intelligence and expand professional network
- Develop and maintain relationships with company management teams, conducting regular meetings and site visits to gain deeper operational insights
- Extract critical information from earnings calls, investor presentations, and corporate communications to inform investment theses
- Leverage sell-side research selectively while maintaining independent analysis and perspective
- Monitor ESG factors, regulatory developments, technological disruption, and other thematic trends affecting sector dynamics
- Generate high-conviction investment ideas supported by thorough analysis and clearly articulated investment theses
- Present research findings and investment recommendations to portfolio managers and the Investment Strategy Committee
- Develop comprehensive sector and company reports with detailed financial analysis, qualitative assessment, and specific actionable recommendations
- Provide regular updates on existing holdings, including thesis validation, potential risks, and changing market conditions
- Collaborate with portfolio managers to determine optimal position sizing, entry/exit points, and risk parameters for recommended investments
- Maintain awareness of portfolio context and overarching investment strategy when formulating sector allocations and stock recommendations
- Serve as a subject matter expert in client meetings, articulating sector views and individual investment theses with clarity and conviction
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership through writing research publications, market commentaries, and participating in client-facing webinars
- Mentor junior analysts, providing guidance on research methodology, financial modeling, and professional development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure research insights are effectively integrated into portfolio management decisions
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives to enhance research capabilities, technological infrastructure, and investment processes
- Minimum 7-10 years of equity research experience with demonstrated sector expertise
- Minimum 7-10 years of financial modeling skills and proficiency in valuation methodologies
- FINRA Series 7 and 63 or 66 licenses (or the ability to obtain)
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), MBA, Masters in Finance or Economics, or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of relevant experience in equity research or investment analysis
- Experience across multiple industries within primary sector
- Track record of generating alpha through fundamental research
- Advanced degree or specialized certification in sector-specific discipline (e.g., technology, healthcare, energy, underlying commodities)
- Experience with alternative data sources and quantitative analysis techniques
- History of accurate earnings forecasts and price target achievements
