Detailed Description:Under the supervision of the Director, the teacher, with a co-teacher, implements a developmentally appropriate program of education and care for children aged 2 through 5 in a full day setting. The teacher participates in all aspects of the program, including lesson planning, goal setting and evaluation, assessment of individual growth and development, and conferences with parents. The teacher also provides guidance to student employees, practicum/field experience students, interns, and volunteers.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with co-teacher to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for 12-15 children in coordination with the Center's philosophy and mission.
- With co-teacher and parents, observes and documents progression of development of individual children and completes developmental assessments twice a year.
- Facilitates a classroom environment that supports individual and classroom goals for growth and development that children at varying developmental levels are stimulated, challenged and engaged.
- Provides active supervision of and engagement with children as assigned.
- Maintains close communication with parents to discuss and analyze growth and development. Utilize communication programs to update parents about activities, events, and daily informal updates.
- Engages in collaborative reflection of teaching practices and classroom events with co-teacher and center staff. Participates in regular team meetings to facilitate collaboration.
- Provides guidance to USD practicum, field experience, and/or interning students as assigned; according to their course requirements and individual goals. Participates in evaluation of student performance, as assigned.
- Participates in school events and organizations as requested.
- Maintains supply inventories and generates supply request lists as needed.
- Completes a minimum of 21 hours of professional development annually.
- Pediatric first aid and CPR certification
- Health screening report including TB clearance and immunizations
- DOJ/FBI/CACI Livescan fingerprint clearance
Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 12 secondary units in Early Childhood Education or current enrollment.
- Minimum of one year experience in a full day Child Development Center working with children between the ages of 2 and 5.
- Minimum of Associate's Degree in ECE or Child Development is preferred.
- Three years of experience in a full day Child Development Center working with children between the ages of 2 and 5 is preferred.
