DESCRIPTIONAmazon Corporate Security's (ACS) Prototype Security team is seeking a Prototype Security - IP Protection Security Sr. Manager who is able to lead and manage the intellectual property (IP) protection strategy related to physical security policy, supply chain security, and intellectual property protection for the Amazon Project Kuiper team. Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Come join us on this exciting program!This position is responsible for collaborating with cross functional security peers to deliver the end to end IP protection of the Kuiper research and development (R&D) facilities, secure transport of materials, off-campus testing activities, and launch activities. This position will help build their team and serve as a people manager over a team from Prototype Security dedicated to Kuiper related to: Regional Security Operations, Supply Chain Security, Personnel Security, and Secure Destruction.Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.This position will report to the Amazon Corporate Security, Head of Prototype Security.Key job responsibilities
  • Develop and deploy a comprehensive IP program protection plan and overarching program
  • Partner in development, implementation, utilization, and regular auditing of a comprehensive material management solution in a manufacturing or R&D space
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of physical security operations for all Kuiper R&D facilities
  • Develop innovative solutions for fast evolving security risks in an manufacturing and R&D environment
  • Partner with cross functional security peers to develop and implement appropriate policies to meet the needs of the Kuiper business teams
  • Develop and deploy guidance for employees around operational security (OPSEC)
  • Proactively audit and identify security gaps at Kuiper manufacturing and R&D sites
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of standards, policies, and procedures for Kuiper Security
  • Assist and support any contract security management activity as assigned
  • Responsible for the execution of Kuiper program activities managed by ProtoSec functional teams, to include Regional Security Operations, Supply Chain Security, Personnel Security, and Secure Destruction.
  • Maintain close coordination, planning, and communication with internal and external stakeholders around all aspects of the product/prototype life cycle (idea inception through finished product/prototype) security initiatives and training
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and inquiries under tight deadlines
  • Budget management for all budget items within the scope of this role
  • Support and active ownership of launch security operations as assigned
  • Able to stand/walk for several hours a day and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, all with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Continually foster strong cross-functional relationships to drive business engagement and execution of security objectives and goals, serving as an internal champion for Prototype Security, confidentiality, and compliance with policies
  • Create and implement change management strategies and communications plans that maximize employee adoption and usage of security controls, and minimize resistance to new security solutions
  • Travel to various sites to review and audit security infrastructure and support onsite security awareness initiatives and events
  • Work cross functionally with peers in Legal, Hardware, Supply Chain Ops, Trade & Compliance, EHS, Kuiper business, and Security to establish scalable Prototype Security standards.
  • Respond to crisis, emergency and/or disaster recovery issues that have impact on prototype development.
  • Support Business Continuity planning and process implementation for product teams and Prototype Security team
  • Actively evaluate, analyze, and use metrics collected to proactively inform programmatic needs and policy decisions

  • 5+ year experience in facility/corporate security management, law enforcement, risk management, legal, defense security, satellite security, or related industries; with 2+ of those years experience leading IP security operations for manufacturing or R&D environments
  • Demonstrated experience and success at leading cross functional programs and proven ability to influence and lead without direct management authority
  • Ability to develop and drive strategic security decision making and influence peers and senior leaders, and effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of leadership involving both business and technical sides of the business
  • Domestic and international travel may be required (10-30% of time)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Business Management or related discipline preferred OR any equivalent combination of education, specialized training and/or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities required
  • Subject matter expertise in IP security operations and best practices in fast paced environments
  • Proficiency in computer applications, general understanding of security systems, and general technical aptitude through demonstrated experience
  • Demonstrated maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills
  • Understanding of statistics and how data is used to inform policies and procedures
  • Experience leading a global program
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

The base pay for this position ranges from $125,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $300,700/year in our highest geographic market.
