- Perform field work and inspections;
- Perform sampling of environmental media (i.e., air, soil, gas, and groundwater);
- Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations by logging soil and/or bedrock, collecting samples, performing field tests, and collecting and recording data;
- Utilize data to calculate hydraulic and contaminant gradients, area, volume and weight calculations, and flow velocity;
- Conduct field oversight of subcontractors, ensuring compliance with job specifications and preparing written summaries for use by project manager and clients;
- Identify and implement solutions to both routine and more complex field and/or laboratory problems and accurately document results in field notes and written reports;
- Communicate with supervisor on any problems or unexpected conditions encountered on project sites;
- Review regulatory requirements and guidance for applicability to project scenarios;
- Assist with the preparation of technical reports and plans; data management and evaluation; and environmental assessment and remediation; and
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or Geology (transcripts will be requested);
- 0-2 years of work-related experience;
- Prior relevant internship, co-op, thesis, or professional work experience preferred;
- Professional certification or plans to obtain professional certification is preferred (EIT, GIT, etc.);
- Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and desire to learn;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Working knowledge of computer software, GIS/AutoCAD a plus;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
- Ability/willingness to perform physical work in a wide range of outdoor and indoor conditions;
- Understanding of the operation of basic hand tools. Understanding or willingness to learn maintenance, calibration and decontamination of field equipment;
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing and reliable transportation to access remote job site locations; and
- Availability to work overtime as needed.
