Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.Your day to day as a Construction Services ManagerAs the Construction Services Manager at Golden Valley Electric Association in Fairbanks, Alaska, you will play a vital role in overseeing the seamless processing of new services from initial application to final construction. Your responsibilities will include supervising and training teams in right of way acquisition, design for transmission and distribution systems, compliance with safety codes, and efficient project management. Engage in short and long-term planning, conduct thorough site and routing studies, and ensure successful execution of major construction projects, clearing operations, and small job contracts.This position offers a dynamic environment where your expertise in project management and electrical engineering is valued.Requirements for this Construction Services Manager jobTo excel in the role of Construction Services Manager at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering, and completion of post-graduate study Arctic Engineering. An active Professional Engineer license in Alaska is mandatory. A minimum of eight years of engineering experience at a similar level is required, along with expertise in designing and constructing overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines following RUS procedures. Proficiency in transmission lines, substations, and adherence to the National Electric Safety Code is essential.Strong supervisory and project management skills are a must, as well as a valid Alaska driver's license. Candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment and are dedicated to delivering high-quality construction services will succeed in this position.Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • BSEE degree or BSCE (Civil or Structural Engineering) required.
  • Completion of post-graduate study in Arctic Engineering.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska.
  • Eight years engineering experience at a comparable level.
  • Experience in the design and construction of overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines using RUS design and contracting procedures.
  • Experience in the design and construction of transmission lines and substations.
  • Experience applying the requirements of the National Electric Safety Code.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
