Prepare steel surfaces for painting and apply paint utilizing a paint spray gun in a spray booth. Position involves a great deal of forklift usage. This position also cross-trains with the Industrial Coating Technician who prepares steel surfaces and parts for coating and coats the structures.1st Shift
$20-23/hrEssential Duties:
- Review and analyze orders for accuracy/applicability;
- Inspect steel structures for dents or areas that need additional prep; Repair or prep accordingly;
- Grind steel surfaces using hand-held grinders and tools to prepare surfaces for paint;
- Apply primer to prepare parts and structure for paint;
- Mix paint and hardeners appropriately;
- Apply paint coats utilizing a paint spray gun in accordance with company specifications;
- Operate a forklift to hold/manipulate structure(s); apply plastisol to steel structures; and adhere plastisol to structure using an industrial oven to bake coating;
- Ensure complete, seamless and even plastisol coating of all structures and parts; all interior chamber shell sides, as well as chamber edges and trough.
- Observe health safety by wearing prescribed protective masks and/or breathing apparatus during processes;
- Maintain inventory levels of coated and/or painted chamber shells.
- Perform routine machine, equipment, and facility maintenance.
- Keep all work areas clean and organized.
- Document time and material for parts and equipment.
- Follow all safety policies.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Ability to learn job-related material through oral instruction and observation.
- Ability to safely operate forklift.
- Ability to use basic hand and/or power tools.
- Strong mechanical background.
- Ability to trouble-shoot: determine what is causing an operating error and decide what to do about it.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Strong work ethic ability to report on time for all scheduled work days/shifts.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic are required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical training would be a plus.
